Profile
Jomsom Muktinath Trek is one of the most famous treks in Nepal for both its natural beauty and its cultural significance. The trek takes you through the deepest gorge of the world, at over 3800 meters above sea level.
Jomsom Muktinath Trek in Nepal is comparatively easy when compared to other treks in the Kali Gandaki area but promises to be equally rewarding. Even people with a moderate level of fitness can complete this trek with no obstacles in the way. Jomsom Muktinath Trek starts along the gorge of Kali Gandaki River, where nature greets us with a marvelous view of peaks Annapurna-I and Dhaulagiri, at the start of the trek. Along the way, trekkers can see the cultural diversity in Nepal as they visit the monasteries, temples, and villages that fall on the way.
Taking you from the world’s deepest gorge to the world’s highest regions, Trek to Jomsom Muktinath also takes you through a barren region with a panoramic view of the Nilgiri, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and several other peaks.
The start of the Jomsom Muktinath Trek routes takes you through the Annapurna region and slowly elevates through the terraces of rice patches and the villages that are inhabited by people for centuries. The highlight of Jomsom Muktinath Trek is the Tatopani hot spring where one can get the opportunity to take a bath at one of the very few natural hot springs in the world. Jomsom Muktinath Trek then takes you through a pass between Jomsom and Kagbeni, the entry point of the Upper Mustang Region.
Alternately, you can check here to trek to the Annapurna base camp.
The next spectacular sight along the Jomsom Muktinath Trek Nepal is the scene of the Dhaulagiri Glacier which rests along with its mighty glory. One can view the glimpse of Tibetan plateaus too on the way to the Holy Hindu temple of Muktinath, a sacred Hindu temple located 3800 meters above sea level. This sacred temple is extraordinary with its 108 waterfalls and mysterious natural gas fires. Next, the trip follows a downhill trail to the Jomsom village on the Tibetan Plateau.
There one can look at the “Forbidden Kingdom of Mustang" from the gateway and catch a glimpse of the primitive traditions that are still followed there. A flight to Pokhara marks the end of the trekking after days of wonderful travel across the forbidden valley.
