Nagarkot, is one of the best place for great mountain views, sun set & sun rise.There are various places on the edge of around Kathmandu valley that offers beautiful scenery, mountain vistas and memorable walking experience but Nagarkot literary meaning is (fort of city)  a perfect combination for visitors, those who have got great enthusiasm about hiking and have a limited time in Nepal. Only 32 km east of Kathmandu valley standing at 2160mt. an elevation from sea level, this is one hours and half drive from touristic town Thamel. There are different hiking routes from/ to Nagarkot for 3, 4 hours which is fabulous to feel a bit differences from crowd of Kathmandu city, people their houses , living style , culture , costumes, terrain  is an unique and a life time memory for visitors.

However, many tourist love to go to Nagarkot to get the glimpse of Mount Everest and other Himalayan peak like Gaurisankar, Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Manasalu, Annapurna and beautiful rise at dawn to see the sun appear over the Himalaya.

The best way to get/leave Nagarkot is on foot, on hikes north to Chisopani or south to Banepa or west to Sundarijal, Sankhu or Changu Narayan.
