Overview
Kakani, is one of the popular view point in Nepal. It is only 24km, one hrs and half drive from Kathmandu city, which is standing at 2100mt. an elevation from sea level on a ridge north west of Kathmandu Valley. Among other major hill stations near to Kathmandu valley, Kakani is one of the beautiful village, people have their unique living styles and they have Mongolian face from Tamang ethnic group. There is a Thai memorial park commemorates the 113 victims of 1992 Thai air crash and the century old summer villa used by British embassy which is now army training school. Kakani offer astounding views of majestic Himalayas including Annapurna,Manasalu,Ganesh Himal,Langtang, Gurisankar and a few peaks of Rolwaling himal.
Many Nepalese young generations also love to visit this place mainly for Himalayan vistas, enjoy nature from crowd of Kathmandu ,sun set and real taste of Japanese trout fish which is available in Kakani. However, visitor can extends hiking up to 6hrs, as we have a different route for hiking around here to get Budanilakantha via shivapuri national park or just a couple of hours walk nearby. It has become one of the famous picnic spot and a cycling route.
