Upper Dolpo Trek

Another beautiful restricted area trekking adventure, Upper Dolpo Trek is certainly a lifetime experience. This adventure takes you to the western mountains past Dhaulagiri range of the Himalayas. Trekking through one of the least developed regions in Nepal; you will explore and experience the timeless villages and cultures. It is also one of the long trekking adventures in Nepal. The beauty of Phoksundo Lake, Shey Gompa and many other villages that come along the trail offer wonderful moments to the trekkers. This trek also requires you to go through a trekking agency as individual trekking is not allowed.

Best time to Trek
The remote mountains in Upper Dolpa look beautiful throughout the year. However, trekking there all year along may be a problem. The spring and autumn seasons bring good experience of traveling in the region. However, the monsoon and winter months are better to refrain from trekking there.

Another popular restricted region trekking in Nepal is Manalsu Circuit Trek. This trek has started receiving more trekkers in recent years. The adventure takes you to the region of Mt. Manalsu – the eighth highest mountain in the world. It starts in the Budhi Gandaki river valley and finishes in Marshyangdi river valley after crossing the Larkya La pass. With only fewer trekkers in the region, you will be able to explore the peaceful atmosphere and spectacular mountain sceneries.

Best time to Trek

Except for the months of December, January, and February, you can go for Manaslu Circuit Trek. However, the monsoon season gets the trail wet and slippery but you can still trek in the region. Spring and autumn seasons are the best seasons to go trekking in Manaslu.

Trekking Permit Cost

The restricted area trekking permit fees for Manaslu region is divided into two types. The autumn season (September – November) charges USD 100 per person for a week and each extra day beyond a week charges USD 10 per day per person. And the rest of the months charge USD 75 per person for a week and each extra day beyond a week charges USD 10 per day per person.

Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek

Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek and trekking in the region is another restricted area trekking adventure in Nepal. The walking adventure in the area of the third highest mountain in the world is also one of the long trekking trips. The adventure goes to the far eastern mountains in Nepal and explores the Himalayan foothills and the mountains. Although the number of trekkers in the region is low, it is increasing in recent days. Best time to Trek

Like for several other high altitude trekking adventures, winter months are not much favorable for the trek. However, the lower parts of the region can surely be explored even during winter. The restricted area trekking permit fees in the Kanchenjunga region is USD 20 per person per week for the first four weeks. And it costs you USD 25 per person per week if you plan to stay in the region beyond four weeks.
