Mundum Trek: A Beautiful Cultural Trekking in the Eastern Mountains

Of many cultural treks and tours in Nepal, A new trail, Mundum Trekking Trail, has opened up in the eastern part of Nepal since January 2018. This cultural trail, alternately Mundum Trek, goes to the Silichung Peak (4,153m) as the final destination of the trip. This cultural adventure goes through the Kirati Rai Cultural settlements.

Mundum Trekking Trail has the actual walking days of ten days. This trail has opened as a year-round trekking route. You can explore the beautiful Kirati Rai culture and settlement while trekking on the Mundum Trek. The destination peak of Silichung is a sacred peak for the Kirati Rai and Buddhist people living in the region.

This adventure also includes a side hiking trip to Temke Danda on the first day to start the ten-day-long trekking adventure in the region. The Mundum Trek will bring you spectacular views of the mountains like Dorje Lakpa, Sishapangma, Numbur, Gauri Shankar, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and many others.

Accommodation and Foods on the Mundum Trekking Trail

As the new trail, Mundum Trek has very basic lodging facilities which will surely improve in the days to come. As of now, the accommodation along the trail is pretty basic with shared toilets. While going on a camping trek can be an alternative in the region, staying in the local tea houses is the most common in practice.

For the food in Mundum Trek, you can expect to eat Dal Bhat in most of the places. While some places will offer you the option of other foods like chowmin and other local foods. Clean drinking water can be a little difficult so it is wise to carry water purifying pills or drink boiled water. Buying bottled water can be a little expensive.

Although the accommodation and foods are basic in this region, you will surely love the astonishing nature, culture, and views of the mountains. This new trekking trail in Nepal is getting some notice.
